Anbei eine Übersicht über On the page factors, bitte um ergänzen/korrektur/anmerkungen, wie bereits im FBA Thread geschrieben.

Attachment als word wäre fein falls möglich.

On-the-Page Factors

First of all, to start of with the search engine optimization of a given website, you need to check and take into consideration the on the page Factors that are included by the major algorithms as factors for your search engine ranking.

In terms of Search Engine Optimization, it is always easier to first improve a website with the given on the page factors, and then continue with strategic link building and Off the Page SEO.

The Title of a website
The title line (refered to as <title>New Webpage 1<title> ) is a fairly important ranking factor. You should include the most important keywords and the topic that is described on your website as short as possible.

Example
Your general website is dealing with “Printer drivers”, then you should match your title to each page. So to say, when your page lists printer drivers for Brother, then you should change your title to <title>Brother Printer Drivers<title>.

As an example of a worst case scenario, see “http://www.4to40.com/recordbook/inde...=125&category= “ where the title of the page even exceeds the browser line.
To keep it simple, you should tell possible visitors the answer to the question “What is this page about?” through your title.

Metatags
I want to summarize all the different Metatags in one paragraph, because I do not think that each of them, like keywords, description, author should be mentioned and described alone. In general, most of the search engines, like Google, MSN or Yahoo! don’t really care about Metatags.
Sometimes Google uses the content of the Metatag description in their Search Engine Results Pages, but this can be neglected.
Nevertheless, it is recommended to include Metatags for other search engines and for visitors who would like background information.
If you decide to use Metatags, it is important to adjust your title and your description, and, if used, keywords tag to the content of every webpage on your website, and not always use the same description for a page about printer drivers and general information about printers.

Keywords in the Content
One of the most important factors for the success of a website is that you mention your keywords in your content. If you want to sell printers, you need to write about printers, offer information, the possibility to ask questions and provide answers.
Eventually, if a search engine spider finds the keywords for which you want to achieve a good ranking on your website, it is easier to do so.
Through providing relevant articles, FAQs, product lists and using synonyms, you can include your Keywords in the content without using search engine spam techniques.

Keyword Density
Another factor in the algorithm is the keyword density. Example given:
If you are writing 100 words about printers, and only use the word printer drivers once, this could be enough.

The Keyword Density of a webpage should range between 2-8 % of the articles content. I would recommend to use synonyms and examples to achieve the “right” keyword density.

Valid HTML
Although a lot of webpages don’t consider this as important, and search engine spiders accept a lot of mistakes, you should try to avoid them.
Advantages when using Valid HTML
• It is easier to read for the spider
• You can be sure that it can be viewed by every browser
• If there are errors, you can be sure that they are not caused by your html syntax

Headlines/Markup
Search engines consider Headlines, for example <h1>Headline Tag</1> as important. It is positive to mention your most important keywords in headlines, but you should always keep in mind that the user has to read this text.
You can also use the tags <b> <i> or <strong> to indicate important sections and keyword combinations.

Keyword Count
In addition to the factor of keyword density, search engines also implemented the factor of Keyword count.
This should prevent the fact that a website that has higher keyword density, but does not mention the keyword as often would be considered as less important.
The idea of measuring the number a keyword occurs show that search engines try to improve the quality of the results, because it is more probable to have a higher keyword count and appropriate keyword density in longer articles/reviews and analysis than in short advertising texts.

Location of Keywords
In order to rate the occurence of different keyword combinations, e.g “printer drivers”, search engine spiders also locate and store data about in which place on your website they found each word.

Example 1
>> A printer is a very useful device, they can print out text, but in order to function correctly, they need drivers >>

Example 2
>> If you want that your printer can use its full function spectrum, you need to search and install printer drivers >>

Search Engine Spiders rate Example 2 more important and give it more relevancy for the keyword combination “printer drivers”, because the location of the keywords to each other is favorable.

The thought behind this is simple: “If you are a vistitor, searching for “printer drivers” you are not willing to find a website where there is general information about printers in one chapter, and about drivers in the other, but you want the best possible result.

Keywords in Alt Tags and Comments
Another possibility to add your keywords to your website in a meaningful way is to use your keywords as alt tags or titles.
Possibilites to add keywords

• Alt Tags for Pictures
• Comments in your webpage
• Titles with further information to your internal links

Internal Link Structure
An important fact of on-the page optimization of any given page in the internet is the way it is organised. There should not be any broken links on your webpage, and you should clearly indicate; through the means of using appropriate linktexts; what the visitor can find on each page. For example, if your homepage is about printers in general, and you provide information about printer drivers, printer prices and so on, you should build up your internal link structure as “flat” as possible.

If possible, each visitor should reach every webpage on your site with only 3 clicks. If this is not possible through normal navigation, you should consider to use a sitemap, where you provide a Map of all the pages in your site.

Example 1
You can find further information about printer drivers here

Explanation 1
This hyperlink is worthless in the eyes of any search engine spider, because the word “here” is not a valid description. The spider will follow the link and index the page, but neither the visitor nor the spider will give it relevancy for the term “printer drivers”.

Example 2
Further information and download link for printer drivers

Explanation 2
Through using the linktext “printer drivers”, a visitor knows in advance what information he expects if he decides to follow this link. A search engine takes the linktext as a vaultage, if many websites refer to the information about printer drivers with this keywords, it will eventually gain a given ranking.

Keywords in Folder Names
As an addition to the Internal Link Structure information, you should also add your keywords in your folder names, e.g www.domain.de/printer-drivers/brother.htm . This helps the user to realize what to except when he clicks on the search engine result, and search engines take keywords in folder names into consideration when rating your on the page optimization.

Summarizing Internal Link Structure , it is important that each of your pages is reachable withing 3 clicks, and that you refer to your pages using linktexts which match your content.

Mir fällt da noch ein:

1. Keywords in CSS Names f.e. printers.css und Bildernamen für Goolge Bilder /print-device/printer.jpg

2. CSS Validate

3. min. 300 words Content und Content weit oben im Quelltext.

4. Ladezeit

Sind halt so Sachen nach denen ich mich noch richte.

Hallo David,
bei diesem Satz:
"The idea of measuring ... shows ..." fehlt das s bei show"s".

Nicos

Noch etwas:

Yahoo beachtet sehr wohl die Metatags...

Im Allgemeinen ist der Title-Tag das wichtigste On-Page Kriterium.
